Educational Visits and Visitors
Educational Visits and Visitors
Educational visits and visitors are invaluable in consolidating class topic work, extending learning beyond the classroom and allowing children to learn through first-hand experience.
In the past few years, children have had the opportunity to enjoy educational visits, including visits to Queen’s University for Peace Proms music workshops and Rowallan and Hillsborough Park for Forest School activities. Also, the school has been visited by experts in the fields of reptiles, Poetry, STEM and representatives from the Council Recycling Team and Northern Ireland Fire Service.
Children in Primary 6 and 7 have the opportunity to participate in a residential trip; the Outdoor Education Centre we use allows children to develop their skills in Archery, Kayaking and Banana Boating, Hiking and Zip Lining, as well as their social and teamwork skills. This trip is the highlight of the school year for many pupils and lasting memories are created during it.
