Ethos, Visions and Values
At Carr we use our unique position of being a small rural school to educate the children in an enriching family atmosphere. Children at Carr get opportunities to be involved in everything we do; not just the best are chosen, but everyone gets to take part. As a result, children leaving Carr in Primary Seven are confident and aspirant young people who are well equipped for all the challenges that lie ahead of them.
The school motto ‘From small beginnings come great things’ embodies this vision.
In our school we aim to…
Create a happy, secure and caring learning environment in which excellence in teaching and learning is promoted at every opportunity.
Provide a pastoral care system where
- every child feels valued and respected in all they do and achieve, and and
- positive behaviour, courtesy and good manners are the very foundation of our relationship with others.
Use our indoor and outdoor classroom and enriched curricular experiences to provide a broad and balanced curriculum appropriate to the needs of each child and to promote within the children
- lively, enquiring minds,
- independence,
- the ability to ask questions, make connections in their learning and show initiative,
- a confidence to try new things and pursue the many windows of opportunity available to them, and
- a positive attitude towards life and a love of learning.
Develop an awareness of each child’s unique talents, skills and abilities whilst fostering an inclusive ethos which builds a deeper understanding and respect for difference within our school family.
Consult with all of our school community about our provision.
Provide an opportunity for children of all faiths and none, from different social and cultural backgrounds, to be educated together in an environment where all are equally valued.
